CCRIF’s Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025 has been produced at a time when the world and indeed our member governments and their populations continue to face unprecedented disruptive effects. Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is considered the region in the developing world that has been hardest hit by the pandemic, resulting in the worst economic contraction in the history of this region. This has been characterized by sharp increases in unemployment, which have had a knock-on effect on household incomes and the ability of families to meet basic needs. The CCRIF Annual Report for policy year 2023/24 which began June 1, 2023 and ended May 31, 2024. This report represents 17 years since CCRIF opened for business in 2007. The success of CCRIF has not gone unnoticed here in the regions we serve and further afield. CCRIF – the world’s first multi-country, multi-peril risk pool based on parametric insurance – is referred to as the Caribbean and Central America’s parametric insurance facility and development insurer. Event Briefing - Covered Area Rainfall Events (19/06/2025 to 19/06/2025) - Excess Rainfall - Guatemala - June 27 2025 |
This event briefing describes the impact of rainfall on Guatemala, which was associated with a Covered Area Rainfall Event (CARE) starting on 19 June and ending on 19 June 2025. The Rainfall Index Loss (RIL) for the Covered Area Rainfall Event was below the attachment point of Guatemala’s Excess Rainfall policy, and therefore no payout is due to the Government of Guatemala. This CARE did not activate the Wet Season Trigger or Localized Event Trigger endorsement of the Excess Rainfall policy and therefore no payout under either this endorsement is due. |

La Unión Europea (UE) sigue brindando apoyo al CCRIF SPC como medio para subsidiar las primas de las pólizas de seguro paramétrico de sus miembros del Caribe. Este año de póliza, que comenzó el 1o de junio 2023, la UE proporcionó US$4,7 millones al CCRIF para apoyar a los 12 miembros caribeños del CCRIF que son elegibles para ODA1 para subsidiar las primas para ciclones tropicales y exceso de lluvia.

El jueves, 16 de marzo de 2023, el CCRIF SPC y el Centro de Coordinación para la Prevención de los Desastres en América Central y República Dominicana (CEPREDENAC) firmaron un memorando de entendimiento (MdE) al margen del Taller Técnico Regional para Centroamérica sobre el Financiamiento del Riesgo de Desastres y el Seguro Paramétrico del CCRIF llevado a cabo en Ciudad de Panamá, Panamá los días 15 y 16 de marzo de 2023.
