CCRIF’s Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025 has been produced at a time when the world and indeed our member governments and their populations continue to face unprecedented disruptive effects. Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is considered the region in the developing world that has been hardest hit by the pandemic, resulting in the worst economic contraction in the history of this region. This has been characterized by sharp increases in unemployment, which have had a knock-on effect on household incomes and the ability of families to meet basic needs. In 2024, Hurricane Beryl reaffirmed the region’s vulnerability and CCRIF’s relevance. With US$84.5 million in payouts to seven members, including governments, electric and water utilities, and a tourist attraction, CCRIF demonstrated the power of parametric insurance and quick liquidity to protect lives, livelihoods, and public infrastructure. A magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred at 14:50:03 (UTC) on 16 May 2026, located at 70.1 km (43.6 mi) WNW of Codrington, Barbuda; 83.1 km (51.7 mi) WSW of Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda and 132.7 km (82.4 mi) S of Le Moule, Guadeloupe. Gran Caimán, Islas Caimán, 24 de junio de 2020. El CCRIF SPC realizó un pago de US$203.136 al Gobierno de Belice por su póliza de seguro paramétrico de exceso de lluvia después de tres días de fuertes lluvias durante las tormentas tropicales Amanda y Cristóbal. Amanda fue un ciclón tropical que se originó en el Océano Pacífico y provocó lluvias que afectaron a Belice el 30 de mayo y luego se debilitaron.
Gran Caimán, Islas Caimán, 22 de junio de 2020. El CCRIF pagó al Gobierno de Guatemala aproximadamente US$3,6 millones bajo su póliza de seguro paramétrico de exceso de lluvia (XSR) por nueve días de lluvia que ocurrieron durante las tormentas tropicales Amanda y Cristóbal. La póliza se activó por las lluvias que comenzaron el 31 de mayo.

El CCRIF SPC se complace en anunciar que los países miembros del Consejo de Ministros de Hacienda o Finanzas de Centroamérica, Panamá y República Dominicana (COSEFIN) recibirán beneficios especiales en las pólizas de seguro paramétrico del CCRIF SPC para el año de póliza 2020/21 como apoyo a la respuesta regional a la pandemia de COVID-19.
