Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla and St. Kitts and Nevis experienced hurricane-force winds and storm surge up to 2.2 m.

While moving across the Atlantic Ocean, Jose intensified and approached the northern Leeward Islands as a major hurricane (category 4) on 9 September at approximately 18UTC. Antigua and Barbuda and Anguilla experienced tropical-storm-force winds.
