CCRIF Postgraduate Scholarships

CCRIF will offer three scholarships per year to students entering any of the following four postgraduate programmes of study:

  1. Faculty of Science and Technology at Mona for a Masters degree in Natural Resource Management (Option – Disaster Management)
  2. Faculty of Science and Technology at Cave Hill for a Masters degree in Natural Resource and Environmental Management (Option – Climate Change)
  3. Faculty of Engineering at St. Augustine for a Masters degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering
  4. Faculty of Social Sciences at Cave Hill for a Masters degree in Building and Construction Management

Cooperation with member countries

 

CCRIF provided support/full scholarships to the Government of Belize for two of its officials employed to the National Meteorological Service to allow them to study for a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology at the University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados.

Chairman of the CCRIF Board, Mr. Milo Pearson (2nd left), paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Meteorologist, Mr. Dennis Gonguez (2nd right) at the offices of the Ministry of Finance, Belize in August 2011 and had the opportunity of meeting the recipients of the CCRIF fellowships, Ms Michele Smith and Ms Shanea Young seated to the far left and far right respectively.

 

 


 

Professional Development Assistance

 

CCRIF provides support for ongoing professional development of persons in key regional organisations through their attendance at conferences and workshops. Some of this support has included: a grant of US$5,000 provided to Winston Gall, meteorological technician with the Cayman Islands Airport Authority, to further his studies in Meteorology at the Graduate School of the US Department of Agriculture; and support to Andrea Sealy of the CIMH to participate in the International Training Course on Satellite Meteorology held in Beijing, China in June 2010.
