    Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, February 23, 2012 – The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) is pleased to announce the launch of its Extra-Regional Scholarship Programme for Caribbean nationals. Through this programme, CCRIF will provide three scholarships annually for citizens in its member states wishing to obtain a Masters or MBA degree in areas related to disaster risk management at a university in the United Kingdom, United States or Canada.

    Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, 21 October, 2011 – The President of the Caribbean Development Bank, Dr. Warren Smith, will open the 6th meeting of the World Forum of Catastrophe Programmes (WFCP) in Jamaica on Monday, October 24, 2011. The 6th meeting of the WFCP is being hosted by the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF), which is a member of the WFCP and the only member from the developing world.

    Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, August 28, 2011 – The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) has announced that, while Hurricane Irene resulted in registered losses in six of its member countries (Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, the Bahamas, Haiti, St. Kitts & Nevis and the Turks & Caicos Islands), none of the policies of these countries were triggered. Of these territories, the highest losses were determined for the Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos Islands.

    Belmopan, Belize, August 23, 2011 – The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) and the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) have strengthened their partnership to be able to better assist Caribbean countries to develop climate change adaptation strategies. These two organisations currently play key roles in the collection and provision of critical information and knowledge on the impacts of climate change and by extension natural disasters on Caribbean countries.

    Grand Cayman, 2 August, 2011 – As the 2011 Atlantic Hurricane Season gets underway, the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) is providing assistance to Caribbean nations to prepare for the tropical cyclones that are expected to affect the region. This assistance takes two forms. The first is that CCRIF has made available its Real-Time Forecasting System (RTFS) to all its members.
